Linda Keen, Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the City University of New York (CUNY), is a leading researcher in dynamical systems, the geometry of moduli spaces of Riemannian surfaces, and hyperbolic geometry. These areas are central in today’s mathematical research and have connections with many other active areas. In hyperbolic geometry, she is particularly known for the Keen Collar Lemma, an essential tool for the study of hyperbolic surfaces. She has been a full professor at Lehman College since 1974 at CUNY. She has served the community as President of the Association for Women in Mathematics (1985-86) and Vice-President of AMS (1992-95). She has served as an associate editor for the Journal of Geometric Analysis, a coordinating editor for the Proceedings of the AMS, and the managing editor of the AMS Electronic Journal of Conformal Geometry and Dynamics. Keen was elected to the Board of Trustees of the AMS, twice serving as its Chair. |
